Democracy Player rebranded Miro is a media hub application to download channels (rss fed video) similar to iTunes.  It’s free, open source and run on any platform you can pretty much run.  While it does have many popular podcasts it still has less content listed then iTunes podcast section.

InterfaceLIFT is a great website for (free) icons and desktop wall papers. (Thanks Julie for brining it to my attention).
